FONTAGRO Helps shape Haiti’s Agricultural and Agroforestry Technological Innovation Program
Writing and web page creation
Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world. It is still recovering from the devastating 2010 earthquake and Hurricane Matthew in 2016, and is highly vulnerable to external shocks and climate change.
While agriculture plays a major role in the economy, it presents very low levels of productivity when compared to other countries in the region.
To help small farmers improve their productivity and income levels, the Government of Haiti and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) have devised an investment program called Agricultural and Agroforestry Technological Innovation Program (in French Programme d’Innovation Technologique pour l’Agriculture et l’Agroforesterie, PITAG).
This is the story of the support FONTAGRO provided during 2017 and 2018 to help shape the program.
